Alberto Tebaldi said the disgust for the dominance of the Spanish drivers in MotoGP was a factor that made Valentino Rossi interested in establishing the VR46 racing academy. Tebaldi called the academy VR46 a Rossi weapon to stop that domination.

As is known in March 2014, Rossi officially opened a racing academy named after his initials and motorbike number, VR46. The racing academy was allegedly to help develop the talents of young drivers, especially those from Italy.
